[Dixie highlights from MamaTV]

Bambi Weavil: If Dixie were to introduce themselves to someone off their street, how would she describe herself?

Dixie Longate:  I’m just a regular girl from Mobile, Alabama.  Three kids, three ex-husbands, and after all the crap of my life was sorted out, I started selling tupperware and became a huge success.  You know, just like any other gal on my block.

BW:  What should be people expect that attend your tupperware extravaganza?

DL:  Well, it is a tupperware party, but I have to emphasize the word party.  I want to maek sure that people know about all of this fantastic plastic that an stretch their food dollar, but doing it while you are drinking is so much more Christian if you ask me.

I mean who wants to listen to someone talk about bowls when you are sober?  That is where the word party comes in.  No spill tumblers make a great purchase at that point.

BW:  You should meet Martha Stewart and Rachael Ray.  What would Martha and Rachael say about  your tupperware parties?

DL:  They would love them.  I mean who doesn’t like a party?  I have been doing these for 6 1/2 years now for people all over the country.  And if you have a particular fascination with the kitchen like these two gals, then you love tupperware parties cause it is the law, or something.  Also have you ever seen Martha drink?  It is a riot.  She does her best when she’s drunk.  Oh, I could tell you stories, but of course there is that restraining order….

BW:  You’re coming to my hometown, Wilmington, NC for Wilmington PRIDE.  What are you looking most forward to in visiting the
Port City?

DL:  Well, it will be my first time, so I know very little about the city.  I will more than likely be looking for some dumpsters so that I can have some quick fun behind.  I mean there is no better way to meet people and make new friends in a city than five minutes at a time.  Right?
BW:  How much alcohol does it take to get people to pull out their checkbooks to purchase your products?

DL:  Since the plastic crap is so amazing, alot of people don’t even drink when they buy.  They see it, love it, get excited and pull out their checkbooks.  Now some of the men pull something else out, but you can still consider it the money maker.  I’ll take what I can get.

BW:  What do you love most about your job?

DL:  The best part of my job is that I get to go to parties for a living.  I get to always have fun when I work.  And parties means cocktail and since I am the one giving the parties, it usually means free cocktails.  I love what I do.  And I make a good living doing it too.  Who knew you could move on up in the world by selling plastic bowls?  Well, you can.

BW:  We at Out Impact, encourage activism and working with non-profits in our work.  What non-profits do you support?

DL:  I support a ton of different organizations.  Tupperware fundraisers are huge with me.  I have done them for everything from cancer support centers to hospice organizations to senior class trips.  I am  big into helping people.  And again, every tupperware party I do is a new chance to get free cocktails.

BW:  What does Dixie love most about PRIDE festivals?

DL:  Well, to be honest, this is my first one, so I imagine I will enjoy all the colorful characters and people dancing on floats.  and at a festival, you can always get a foot long dipped in something, so I am sure that will be fun, right?

BW: Would Dixie ever extend her brand and sell sex toys?

DL:  Well, what is amazing about tupperware is that I didn’t even realize that you were supposed to use it in the kitchen.  For the first two years I was using it in the bedroom till someone told me.  I had to pick up all my favorite pieces from under the bed, wipe off all the goo, and start using them in the kitchen.   Boy, that handle on that colander is something else…

BW:  Are your tupperware eco-friendly and what’s the most used tupperware piece in your collection?

DL:  The best piece for me is the can opener.  When you see my show, you’ll know why and you aren’t really supposed to throw the stuff away.  it has a lifetime warranty.  That is what makes it so great.  You buy it once, you have it forever.  So that really cuts down on all the waste from throwing  stuff away like you do with the disposable kind.  Come to my show, you’ll see the light!

BW:  You can support Dixie and her glorious tupperware for Wilmington PRIDE 2008 on Thursday, June 12, at Thalian Hall in Wilmington, NC at 8p, tickets are $25.  You can visit her site for other touring dates at http://www.dixielongate.com/home.html and her MySpace at http://www.myspace.com/dixielongate.
