Ebony Chunky Love : Bitch can’t get a date! is fabulous and though that word has been used in so many ways over the years, I mean it in every sense of the word, and here’s why.

Keith Price is the first openly out African American personality on satellite radio on Sirius OutQ on “OutQ In The Morning” with Larry Flick. What you see with Keith is what you get. He’s part-African American/part Honduran, he’s struggled with his body image (and came out on top at a certain critical point in his life cussing out his father–fierce!), he’s had jobs such as working in a strip club and in nursing and he’s always been fabulous darling (Third Grade career assignment was cute) and unapologetic for it. Keith’s life is like any good All My Children story without all the Erica Kane husbands. There’s adversity, there’s joy, there’s pain, there’s empowerment and there’s laughter laced together with energy that is infectious and magnetizing. But there’s more to it.

Producer Lonnie Renteria, does a amazing job of tying Keith’s experiences in life all together and balancing it out with viewpoints from Dr. Gary Kinté Perry, an Assistant Professor of Sociology and affiliate with the Global African Studies and Women’s Studies programs at Seattle University, as well as Mako Fitts, Ph.D., also an Assistant Professor of Sociology at Seattle University, and fellow affiliate faculty in the Global African Studies and Women Studies Programs. Other professionals in the entertainment industry such as veteran entertainment reporter and actor, Bobby Rivers, also contributed their opinions and viewpoints into showcasing just how much of a trailblazer Keith is within the gay community. These opinions give Keith’s story all the more energy and reason to be told to the gay and straight community who want to understand just how far we’ve come.

Lonnie does a amazing job of discussing the history of African American gay men portrayed in entertainment and in everyday life (the phenomenon often tied to African American gay males known as “the down low”, the non-checked box in online dating) in a way I’ve never seen.

In his act, Keith like any gifted comedian, talks about his life experiences with such casual candor (the talk with his niece who asked him if he was gay and if they’d go shopping), that no matter how many times he’s discussed it, Keith has the ability to charm and connect to an audience - straight or gay, the laughter is present. Keith is naturally gifted in his ability to never come across as being anything other than real.

There is no doubt about the importance and enjoyment that can be found in Ebony Chunky Love : Bitch can’t get a date! The most infectious part of Keith’s personality and candor is the way his face lights up when he speaks, the belief that you can find the light at the end of bad situations, find your place in the world, or in the dating scene and to always be fabulous.
