Our review of Emanuel And The Fear’s self-titled EP.
The Black Eyed Peas Are The ‘Show Stoppers, Show Rockers’ with “The E.N.D.”
It’s not The E.N.D. (really) for The Black Eyed Peas (Twitter, Facebook, MySpace), but it is short for The Energy Never Dies, the fifth studio album from the Los Angeles-based quartet that have had no problems selling records (they are the best selling hip-hop group in music today, having sold over 26 million albums and counting worldwide). They are also extremely tied to activism and social awareness, including their creation of The Peapod Foundation, which encourages social change by uniting people through the universal language of music and supporting social issues affecting children children worldwide including shelter, hunger, health care, education, poverty and music education.
Kyler England – Simple Machine
I’ve been one of the fortunate ones to be a long-time Kyler England supporter for over five years now, and with each live show and studio album, Kyler always brings very focused, passionate, honest and enjoyable indy acoustic-pop music in her releases. Kyler’s fifth and latest release, Simple Machine, is the most polished and radio ready album to date from her career so far. Kyler’s an award-winning songwriter in her own right, and no doubt has music made to be heard by the masses. Here are some of her accomplishments: Finalist for Best Female Artist for the International Acoustic Music Awards, Best Alternative Rock CD for the Indie Acoustic Project, and Music Connection Magazine’s Hot 100 Unsigned Artists of 2007. Her music has recently appeared on TV and in film including Ghost Whisperer, Army Wives, Guiding Light, Rollergirls, Paradise City and the upcoming film The Lucky Ones starring Rachel McAdams and Tim Robbins. Kyler tours like a madwoman, and and has shared the stage with artists including Sting, Annie Lennox, Melissa Etheridge, Teitur, Gavin DeGraw, Kelly Clarkson, Avril Lavigne, Meredith Brooks, Liz Phair, Emm Gryner, Josh Joplin and Vienna Teng, just to name a few.
Lady Gaga – The Fame

We’ve been all about Lady Gaga since the beginning of the year when we covered her (Soundfematic: Lady Gaga). Like the rest of the world, we are still all about Lady Gaga. “Just Dance” (featuring Colby O’Donis) has been remixed and sitting nice and pretty as a successful dance hit for this gorgeous, theatre-driven, exhibitionist, multi-talented singer/songwriter DIYer.
Jason & DeMarco – Safe

Pop recording duo, Jason & deMarco with their new album Safe, featuring new music and recordings that appear in the controversial SHOWTIME documentary We’re All Angels. Their music is uplifting with empowering messages with beautiful harmonies.
Since appearing on the cover of The Advocate four years ago, they have faced opposition from right-wing organizations for their activism in the GLBT community of faith and their work lobbying for social justice. On November 7th, in Charlotte, NC, they will be teaming up with singer-songwriter Randi Driscoll to hold a benefit concert called “Stop The Hate” at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte to honor the memory of Matthew Shepard and will benefit The Matthew Shepard Foundation and Campus Pride. Both organizations value LGBT youth and their allies and serve to educate on issues of bias and hate crimes for communities across the country.
P!nk – Funhouse

The biggest surprise wasn’t the fact her songs focused on her breakup, but moreso that she had more of a R&B sound than in her last album. I highly recommend Funhouse, P!nk made this album heavily focused on what she went through with her breakup, however that doesn’t take away from the artistic, honesty and rawness of this record. We got what we have always expected from P!nk: damn good music.
The Asteroids Galaxy Tour – Around The Bend EP

The Asteroids Galaxy Tour, led by Lars Iversen and Mette Lindberg from Copenhagen, Denmark, has been exciting radio programmers internationally with “The Sun Ain’t Shining No More” and this is just the beginning. You may have heard of them in the iPod Touch ads with their funk/horned filled “Around the Bend.” This is a band that could be classified as pop one minute, techno the next, but without any question, this is a band to party to.
