“No longer will tens of thousands of Americans in uniform be asked to live a lie.” – President Obama during the signing of the landmark repeal of “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” in front of a large, emotional crowd in Washington D.C. this morning.

“For we are not a nation that says, ‘don’t ask, don’t tell.’” We are a nation that says, ‘Out of many, we are one.’ We are a nation that welcomes the service of every patriot. We are a nation that believes that all men and women are created equal. Those are the ideals that generations have fought for. Those are the ideals that we uphold today. And now, it is my honor to sign this bill into law,” President Obama said.

It’s a real good day, indeed. Thank you to all the service men and women who serve in the military, regardless of sexual orientation. For the full transcript, visit whitehouse.gov.

Special thanks to everyone who has fought so hard over the years for this day to come, not limited to but including: Lt. Dan Choi (Twitter, Facebook), Servicemembers Legal Defense Network (Facebook, Twitter), the 65 Senators and the 250 in the House of Representatives who voted in support of the repeal.
