Wilmington, NC Protests Prop 8 In A National Day of Unity
One-hundred thirty people, both from the gay community and straight allies gathered together in a peaceful protest on a beautiful warm Saturday afternoon in Wilmington, NC at the Federal Building in solidarity with the national protesting of Prop 8 passing in California at 1:30p EST on November 15th. Local organizers Kati Heffield and Mary Eller helped spread the word via social networking sites like Facebook that Wilmington would be represented as part of the estimated 300 cities taking part in the national protest.
We Lost Equal Rights In Four States
The fight for equality is not over for those of us in the LGBTQ community, even though Barack Obama is now president.
WE LOST IN CALIFORNIA WITH PROP 8.
Same sex marriage is now BANNED in Arizona.
Same sex marriage in Arkansas right to adoption, BANNED.
Same sex marriage is now BANNED in Florida.
How many losses do we need as a community for us to step up and fight? We have a man in the highest office in this country now who may actually listen to us….it’s time we unify in this very fractured community and create that impact. We must come together and not stop fighting until we are equal in this country. I’m ready to keep pushing, are you?
Thank you,

Jason & DeMarco – Safe

Pop recording duo, Jason & deMarco with their new album Safe, featuring new music and recordings that appear in the controversial SHOWTIME documentary We’re All Angels. Their music is uplifting with empowering messages with beautiful harmonies.
Since appearing on the cover of The Advocate four years ago, they have faced opposition from right-wing organizations for their activism in the GLBT community of faith and their work lobbying for social justice. On November 7th, in Charlotte, NC, they will be teaming up with singer-songwriter Randi Driscoll to hold a benefit concert called “Stop The Hate” at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte to honor the memory of Matthew Shepard and will benefit The Matthew Shepard Foundation and Campus Pride. Both organizations value LGBT youth and their allies and serve to educate on issues of bias and hate crimes for communities across the country.
