Guerilla Theatre, always at the forefront of avant garde and political theatre in the Port City (Wilmington, NC), has chosen to lend its voice to the modern civil rights struggle with its April production of William Shakespeare’s Romeo & Juliet. As the California State Supreme Court considers the legality of Proposition 8 and states such as Vermont consider marriage and civil union bills, the Bard’s classic tale of forbidden love lends itself perfectly to today’s debate over Gay Marriage.
