In May, the National Association of Gay & Lesbian Real Estate Professionals (NAGLREP) proudly attended the 2011 Hubert Humphrey Civil & Human Rights Award Dinner in Washington, DC where they met with Joe Solmonese, HRC President and Hubert Humphrey Civil and Human Rights award recipient, award winner Shirley Sherrod, and President and CEO of the Leadership Conference Wade Henderson. The NAGLREP has a long-standing commitment of supporting LGBT non-profit causes, including our own. We are proud to call NAGLREP one of our strongest supporters to date.
Most recently, the National Association of Gay & Lesbian Real Estate Professionals Board of Directors (BOD) voted unanimously to appoint Eric Kodner as President of their LGBT and gay friendly Real Estate trade organization. Eric had been Vice President and replaces Todd Shipman who had been NAGLREP’s President from 2008 – 2011. Todd Shipman will remain on the NAGLREP Board of Directors.
Eric Kodner brings to NAGLREP a strong desire to lead, and advocate on behalf of the LGBT Real Estate community. Kodner made a name for himself within NAGLREP and NAR in 2009 when on behalf of NAGLREP, he approached the Wisconsin Realtors Association EOC and brought forward a proposal to amend the NAR Code of Ethics to include sexual orientation as a protected class. Almost three years later the vision came to be a reality when in November of 2010 NAR’s Delegate Body voted 93% in favor of the proposed amendment. For more on this read our article, “National Association of Realtors Voted Yes To Amend the NAR Code of Ethics To Include Sexual Orientation As A Protected Class.”
Other highlights of the NAGLREP BOD meeting includes the addition of 5 new directors to their board. Additions to the NAGLREP board of directors include Steve Strode, Shannon Lindstrom, Bruce Williams, Clark Niblock, and Mario Trejo Romero.
