Coming up this November, the National Association of Gay and Lesbian Real Estate Professionals (NAGLREP) will celebrate their four-year anniversary. They are celebrating their 4th annual meeting on November 12th during the National Association of Realtors (NAR) annual meetings in Anaheim, California.
NAGLREP was founded in 2007 with a mission of advocacy and business and has been supportive of organizations like Out Impact and HRC. The NAGLREP are presently over 400 members and growing. They are proud of their growth and currently have over 40 chapters in 25 states in the US and our international membership is growing including members in Canada, Mexico, Costa Rica and Nicaragua. NAGLREP has also a long-standing commitment to diversity, including celebrating four years of working with NAR Diversity as well as outreach to the Hispanic, Asian, and African-American communities.
Their greatest advocacy achievement has been getting the NAR Code of Ethics amended to include sexual orientation as a protected class. The code pertains to Realtor to client conduct, and workplace conduct. They are currently in talks with NAR to have sexual orientation redefined to also include gender identity to the NAR Code of Ethics as a protected class. The NAGLREP hope to have a resolution by mid-November during the NAR annual meetings.
