Michelle Williams in preparation for her third solo album and her first since 2004’s Do You Know, is moving away from the gospel sound and embracing the pop/dance world.

Mariah Carey doesn’t disappoint with her latest release, E=MC², which is living on the album and singles chart. Her eleventh album of her career, Mariah proves that you can have career longevity and still be contemporary. This may be one of her best albums of her career, written and produced by Mariah, C. “Tricky” Stewart and The-Dream, with special guests including Jermaine Dupri, DJ Toomp, Stargate, Will I Am, Bryan Michael Cox, Nate “Danjahandz” James Poyser. Mariah has created the Mariah Sound, a nice blend of pop, R&B and hip hop that keeps her on the pulse and setting the standard for everyone else in the music industry.

“Can’t Say No” is a song that stays in repeat, long after the audio is over, with more pleasure and pain wrapped together, between serving and using emotionally within a relationship. “Vacilador” is almost a haunting lullaby, a haunting departure and “falling upon angels of sand.” “Bless Your Heart” is another hauntingly beautiful yet completely sweet in it’s tragedy song, not wanting to talk it over and yet everything can be said in “it’s the way you stare when I said goodbye.” Luaces has such a gift for being able to say the unsaid and wrap it with a beautiful rock melody.

Before gay liberation before AIDS, before gay weddings, and before The L-Word, Boston’s weekly Gay Community News, one of the longest-running gay publications in existence, was the center of Amy Hoffman’s world. After the Stonewall Riots in New York, in 1969, Boston had become a national center of gay activism. Hoffman writes refreshingly and honestly in An Army of Ex-Lovers about the publication that consumed her life, the friendships behind the scenes of it’s central staff, the toll of AIDS among staff and friends, and the dedication of putting the publication together on shoestring budgets. GCN started in 1973 and publishing in various formats until 1999, and Hoffman is woven into the history of GCN from 1978-1982.

Hundreds of local and out-of-state residents came to see Senator Hillary Clinton speak in Wilmington, NC on a beautiful evening by the historic riverfront area in front of the Cape Fear River and the USS North Carolina. Before Clinton spoke, Senator Julia Boseman, who represents the New Hanover County district and is also a out politician, warmed up the crowd. Clinton dressed in Carolina blue not showing signs of wear, kicked off her hour and a half speech with, “Just another night in paradise in Wilmington, North Carolina!” to cheers from the loving crowd.
Students from more than 7,300 middle and high schools will take a vow of silence today during GLSEN’s 12th annual National Day of Silence to bring attention to anti-lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) name-calling, bullying and harassment. The event is being held this year in memory of Lawrence King, a 15-year-old from Oxnard, Calif., who was shot and killed in school on Feb. 12 because of his sexual orientation and gender expression.

Death At A Funeral, a British dark comedy currently available on DVD from MGM Home Entertainment, revolves around Daniel trying to bury his father in a dignified manner and becomes uncontrollable chaos. From critically acclaimed director Frank Oz (Bowfinger, In & Out), delivers on a train wreck of bad behavior, Valium outbreaks, skeletons in the closet and confusion. Death At A Funeral was declared the Audience Award winner at the U.S. Comedy Arts Festival and was a runaway hit at the Locarno International Film Festival, as this movie touches as many taboos as you can think of.

I’ve teased her once. Now I’m giving you another taste. Make-out and dance to Lady GaGa because that’s what I’d be doing. This is one hottie to look out for. Fresh out of NYC, this do-it-yourself disco-erotica queen is about to change the world one sequin at a time. She makes her own clothes, writes her own songs (imagine that), and will soon enough shatter every disco ball from here to San Francisco and beyond. Smitten, smoking and sexy - bring her and her beats on!
