B8 Global Justice for Burma is an international affair taking place in Delhi, London, New York and San Francisco on August 8, 2008. B8 hopes to bring attention to the brutal regime of General Than Shwe and to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the 8888 massacre. In 1987, the country was thrown into economic turmoil when General Ne Win decided to change the currency based on his astrologer’s assertion that “9″ was his lucky number. The number was not so lucky for Burmese citizens; many suffered because of this abrupt change in the economic flow. On August 8, 1988 thousands of peaceful protesters including students and monks were slaughtered on the streets of Burma (now Myanmar) as they called for a more stable economy.

The easiest mistake to make is that The Graduate are just another rock band passing through…when that couldn’t be further from the truth. This is one indy rock band that is going to be blowing up the charts if their debut album, Anhedonia, is any indication. “Better Company” should be a huge hit, and should command attention and is prove that this band has got “it.”

Stacy Clark is one enjoyable and talented indy artist, proudly from Buffalo,New York, and still trying to make it out to Alaska. Stacy got our attention with “Say What You Want,” the ultimate “I am not affected by what you do anymore” song anymore, that aired on The Hills. But she’s kept our attention because she’s a talented singer/songwriter and is also the spokesperson for Music Save Lives.

Telling On Trixie, from New York City, have been featured on Sirius Satelitte Radio, been honored by LOGO and have a lot of soul in their rock and roll. Created from a partnership of opposites- the introverted guitarist (Brad Small) and the extroverted lead singer (Derek Nicoletto) who bring out the best in one another to create something bigger than themselves.

Sometimes in albums, it takes a few spins to find the “soul” or the “reason” why a particular record is into being. With Kerli’s Love Is Dead, the soul of this record was more than evident. This is one of the most uplifting yet dark, truthful, beautiful and soulful records I’ve heard this year.
