Outta The Closet!

Introduction...
by Cris Long

Lesbians don't talk about fashion, they don't think about style, they have no problem walking out the front door to put their faces forward with last night's T-shirt and last weeks jeans, right? Fashion is only intended for spoiled heterosexuals and gay men? I don't believe it! I do know that every time I pick up a lesbian magazine or browse gay related sites, I see no fashion-related information, there are no savvy women or men delivering my daily addiction, the craving that screams, "I have personal style and I want to share it with this world!”

That's why you're here, staring at my column, because inside and you can keep this a secret, you know I'm right , and that's why I am here.

I want to provide you all with information and options. I don't believe that you have to be a certain size or love a certain look to achieve personal style. I don't believe that because you have accepted certain truths about yourself that it automatically rules out other interests. I am not just a lesbian; I am a woman, with needs and wants. I am a writer, an informer, a provider, giver, lover, best friend, confidante, student, and fashion addict. You are probably one or more of these too, which doesn't mean that you can't wonder how those pointy red pumps are going to look with dark denim and black tunic you've been dying to wear, or for that matter how your vans look with the plaid button up you've uncovered from the thrift store. It's all relative.

Feel free to come back all day, everyday. The more your here the better chance your not gonna miss anything! I have some ideas in the works, but nothing is concrete yet. This is my first attempt at something like this and as excited as I am about diving right in, I must be honest, I am just as nervous. I feel like the new girl on the second day of high school two states away from where I grew up. With that out in the open, this is where I ask for feedback, and ideas. I want you to tell me that you love it or hate it. I've got some pretty tough exterior here, so don't be afraid to email me with anything at kris@outimpact.com . Let me know what you as a community would like to see. What you'd like to gain, what you'd like to learn. I'll do my part by keeping it interesting and real. Stay tuned, more to come….
