On the surface, I really wanted to like Kiss The Bride, starring Tori Spelling and James O’Shea, but I really had a hard time connecting to the believability. It’s not because the idea that sexuality and relationships are complex in this film, because sexuality and relationships are complex and complicated and not always clear-cut. My main problem was the believability of the cast and the chemistry between them.

Kiss The Bride follows the impending nuptials of Ryan (O’Shea) and Alex (Spelling), but Ryan’s old high school friend Matt (Phillip Karner), a old fling of Matt’s shows back up in the picture, not realizing that Matt is engaged to be married to a woman. I really struggled to believe Matt and Ryan were ever on the same page, and because of that, it distracted me from the entire film.

I really wanted to like this movie, so I’d still recommend that it’s worth another sit through for the reasons of it’s complexity and addressing the ability to break sexuality labels in today’s society, but I’m not sure if I could ever believe the chemistry between the two lead actors.
