Out Impact’s Out Impact Friday:
Presenting Headliner Kyler England –
Partial Proceeds Benefit Coastal Horizons Rape Crisis Center
Wilmington, NC, Friday, July 17, 2009

WILMINGTON, NC, JUNE 30, 2009 – Out Impact, a national gay online magazine focusing on making a positive impact within the gay community, will in our fourth 2009 event be celebrating good times for a good cause in a special fundraising event for Coastal Horizons Rape Crisis Center at The Soapbox (255 N. Front St.) in Wilmington, NC on July 17th, 2009 from 9 p. m. to 1 a. m.
“The Rape Crisis Center of Coastal Horizons Center, Inc. appreciates the collaborative efforts of Out Impact, Inc. We recognize that rape and sexual assault affect all communities and applaud Out Impact’s efforts to share our services within the gay community,” said Julie Ozier of The Rape Crisis Center. “We provide free and confidential services to sexual assault victims and their loved ones. Our services include: crisis intervention; individual and group counseling; hospital accompaniment; law enforcement and court advocacy/accompaniment; rape prevention education; and community outreach/education. Our organization relies on donations and fundraisers such as this to continue providing services to victims of sexual violence in our community.”
“We are proud to be working with The Rape Crisis Center,” Bambi Weavil, CEO and Publisher of Out Impact, Inc. said. “We have been long-time community partners with them, and we are advocates for their proven effective programs and commitment to women who have been abused or raped.”
Headlining will be North Carolina native, singer/songwriter Kyler England. England has opened for Sting, Annie Lennox, Kelly Clarkson, Gavin DeGraw, Melissa Etheridge and Avril Lavigne to name a few. Kyler’s music has been heard on Ghost Whisperer, Army Wives, Guiding Light, Zoey 101, Rollergirls, Paradise City and the film “The Lucky Ones” starring Rachel McAdams and Tim Robbins.
In her fifth studio release, Simple Machine, reviewed in February on OutImpact.com, wrestles with some tough questions- as evidenced in the title track, “how can you believe the heart is only a simple machine?”- and finds herself torn between God and science, free will and destiny, anger and forgiveness, union and solitude, and of course, the happy love song and the break-up song.
England says of the album, “It’s a little more pop-electronica, a little more alt-country, a little more singer-songwriter, and a lot more me. I feel like with every song I write and every record I make, I get closer to my truest voice both as a singer and writer. These songs all mean a lot to me personally- they’re 3/4 autobiographical and the other 1/4 are inspired by people close to me. And I’m not telling who or which songs so don’t ask,” she adds with a smile.
Kyler England’s official website is www.kylerengland.com and is available for media interviews. Also featured is Mark Kano (http://www.markkano.com/), from Greensboro, NC, who is best known as the lead singer of Athenaeum; Vonrenzo from New York City (http://vonrenzo.com/) in promotion of their new release, Indica Dove Sei, and local Wilmington duo, Politics of Confession.
