Brawdeville: Women in Performance Art Launches New Works Reading Series

You watched them bring the harsh and sometimes hilarious realities of the New York subway system to light in Third Rail Alive. You experienced the idiosyncrasies of pop culture when you took a mixed-media trip through Saturation Nation. Now join Brawdeville as they introduce Speakeasy, a reading series that features new works written and directed by women.

Speakeasy I will feature The Art of Leaving, an original full-length play by Ingrid Jungermann. The hour-long dark comedy reveals the inner-workings of a relationship between two women whose sweet but subtle love boils down to a game of who can tell the harshest truth.

Meet the Writer/Director & Cast of The Art of Leaving:

Ingrid Jungermann (Writer/Director)
This is Ingrid’s second play. Okay, third. But the first she wrote in high school; it was about a young prostitute named Rose who meets a pimp she can really relate to. It doesn’t count for obvious reasons. She is a film and theater writer/director who finished her second short film, Love Sucks, in January of this year, a narrative that has been accepted at Frameline: San Francisco International LGBT Film Festival, Seattle Lesbian & Gay Film Festival and Image + Nation: Montreal LGBT Film Festival. Elizabeth Wolf (Reverie/Constance)
In New York City from 1999-2004, Elizabeth ran the not-for-profit theatre company The Tobacco Bar. Of the 10 plays produced, she performed in The House of Yes, Sunday On the Rocks and the award winning Einstein’s Dreams (2001 Fringe Best Direction). She has currently been invited to study acting at the Atlantic Theater this fall. Elizabeth has done various voice over work for Dell, Tonka, Trump and Lifetime to name a few. Most recently she can be seen in Moving Mike which will premiere at the Williamstown Film Festival this fall.

Beth Dover (Constance/Reverie)
Beth is very excited to be back in NY after selling her street cred and moving to LA. She has appeared on TV, some movies and in various commercials.
