GAYFEST NYC has been organized to produce exceptional new theatre works by and for the LGBT community and to develop the selected plays, over an extended period of time, into viable entities for theatres and producing organizations around the world. The year-round work culminates in a three-week Festival, this year scheduled for May 27 – June 14, 2009, features major new plays by gay authors or that spotlight gay-friendly subject matter. Spanning a range of genres from hard-hitting dramas to jewel box musicals, the not-for-profit GAYFEST NYC will include two fully-produced Main Stage productions featuring Actors’ Equity Association casts, a Studio Reading Series of new works, talk-backs with the authors of the Festival plays, a special evening devoted to new, short one-act plays written by Harvey Milk High School students, appearances by celebrated members of the LGBT community, plus other events. For more information, please contact our friends at GAYFEST NYC (gayfestnyc@aol.com), who we are proud supporters of.
