Tonight entertainer and author Cyndi Lauper (Facebook, Twitter) on her new reality show, Cyndi Lauper: Still So Unusual features the True Colors Fund’s Forty to None Project (Facebook, Twitter), that addresses GLBT youth homelessness. Tonight’s episode will feature a behind-the-scenes look at the creation of their very first PSA called “America’s Next Generation.” The PSA, featuring Cyndi with young New Yorkers, highlights the impact of homelessness on gay and transgender youth.
It is estimated that up to 1.6 million youth are homeless each year. Up to 40% of these young people identify as gay or transgender, while only 3-5% of the general youth population does the same. The primary factor in these young people being homeless is family rejection.
