Fortitude: –noun
mental and emotional strength in facing difficulty, adversity, danger, or temptation courageously
It seems both appropriate and ironic that a weekend of film, cocktail parties, gifts, dancing and more in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, is named after this particular term. Fortitude Weekend (Twitter, Facebook) is produced by The L Foundation, Inc., a not for profit corporation organized to raise awareness and funds for charitable organizations that promote and protect human rights, including the rights of the gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgendered, and queer/questioning community, as well as charitable organizations that promote education, health and welfare services in the areas of HIV/AIDS, cancer and other diseases.
What is appropriate is the release of Party Groove: FORTITUDE Weekend, DJ Roland Belmares’ (Facebook) mix and official dance album for Fortitude Weekend. In the words of Belmares and Centaur Entertainment (Facebook), the gay dance music record label: “This CD has Fortitude.”
The album is available nationwide in stores and can be purchased on iTunes and theoutclub.com. The CD includes a mix of artists such as The Dixie Chicks, Taylor Dayne, Deborah Cox, Brian Kent and many more. Centaur President Nick De Biase wrote in a recent press release that “Roland put together a compilation that really exhibits his Hi-NRG energy style as well as the fabulous backdrop of the Fort Lauderdale location making for a great pool party, workout, or driving with the top down CD.”
DJ Roland Belmares began DJing in small clubs in Austin, Texas and has now garnered international acclaim from Canada, Brazil to Amsterdam. On Fortitude Weekend and the hot release of his CD, Belmares shared that he and Centaur Entertainment had “hoped to put forth a fun, light and positive week of events bringing back some of the energy from years past. So we tried to put together a CD to match the energy and vibe of that vision.”
