Adam Lambert Shows His Substance & Glam at House of Blues in Myrtle Beach

Adam Lambert (Facebook, Twitter, MySpace) headlined his Glam Nation Tour to a sold out crowd at the House of Blues in Myrtle Beach, SC on July 3, 2010, and can put any doubts (we had none, for the record) to rest that he’s the real deal. The dedicated, loyal crowd waited in line for hours to get in early, was diverse all across the board: mostly women of all ages wearing homemade Adam Lambert shirts, young kids, some men, as well as some openly gay fans from the LGBT community, populated the crowd. If there was any doubt that Lambert could draw a diverse crowd, all doubt can be laid to rest that he appeals to everyone.

The crowd exploded and broke out in chants before he even started and it became a rock concert brimming on excitement and anticipation, quickly. The show opened with a dance mix version of “For Your Entertainment” which completely set the tone of the show. I haven’t attended many shows where I’ve heard women scream and scream and scream….and this one was definitely in a league of it’s own. The energy throughout the night was fun, festive, dynamic as well as authentic. The most surprising thing about Lambert was though he was forever confident in his talent, he was also personable and charming with the audience.

He performed most of the songs from his album, For Your Entertainment, and most of the audience consistently sang along, danced, screamed, and was completely captivated by Lambert’s presence. Lambert cleverly used the space to make it a full-on show, with his talented band and dancers. He placed an elevated platform on both side of the stage, as well as a staircase which gives him room to be the performer he truly is, so everyone in the packed house could see him strut, feel the music, and dance. The lights and videoscreen were put to good use too, giving everyone the full concert experience.

As much as he’s truly a rock star, when he stripped down songs like his current hit single, “Whataya Want From Me”, as well as “Sleepwalker”, “Soaked” and “Aftermath”, it showed the true grit of his talent – he was able to storytell in song the progress of relationships as well as the power of his voice which has so many levels and ranges. It’s hard to believe how wickedly good Lambert’s voice is or really give justice to its quality and depth.
Lambert also did two covers, Johnny Cash’s “Ring Of Fire” which had a very trippy Alice In Wonderland meets psychedelic, sexy, deliciously naughty feeling, and for the encore performance, a pretty sweet semi-acoustic version of the Led Zeppelin classic that really got Lambert on the map during the Idol season, “Whole Lotta Love.”
I’m not sure if you can really be a passive Lambert fan (I know I never was), but if you attended this concert unsure that he was a true star and would give you your money’s worth, you walked away knowing that he was well worth your money and then some. Everyone who attended this show is going to be talking about it this Fourth of July weekend and beyond and spreading the love. Do not pass up seeing Lambert if you have the opportunity to go, especially in an intimate setting like the House of Blues, for any reason – you’ll leave feeling entertained, energized and re-inspired on your own path to keep going and to always be who you are.

I just live for these wonderful comments. You’d think that it was me up there on stage. I’m so damn proud of this guy, yes, I could squee (I love that word). Adam is the best and I hope he stays healthy and rested (if that’s possible) on this long tour. Love to see him again live, saw him in Milwaukee which was beyond belief (he laid on the stairs, thought the whole theater would cave in). I love you Adam, always will.
The reviews for this show have been great so far! My Japanese friends just came back from Nokia in NY and still haven’t recovered from the show. I am also traveling from Japan to see the show. Based on all the great reviews, I’m sure I will not regret flying 1/2 way across the world to see Adam. Thank you for your enthusiasm.
Thank you for the fantastic review of the Glamtastic Glam Nation concert experience. You touched on many of the reasons why Adam’s show is considered one of the top concert tour picks and best concert values of the summer! Anyone that has ever seen Adam peform live, knows how incredibly talented he is, how dynamic, and that he gives 110% on stage. That’s why Adam’s shows are sold out while other artists cancel their tours. My first Glam Nation show is next week, and I CAN”T WAIT!!!
Great review! Adam IS the REAL DEAL! Love & light to Adam!
@Fly @ Kms it was wonderful meeting all the minions at Foxwoods!! I wish Adam could go to Foxwoods on a monthly basis.
Ann D….I live in CBS, NL. Please email me – been trying to find someone to travel with. Would love to see Adam live….I can’t imagine his voice being better than on the CDs but that makes me want to see him even more. Ann pm me at pdixon@nl.rogers.com Where do you live? Which concert are you going to??
Wow can’t wait to see him live and can’t imagine that his voice is even better than the CDs. Wow and wow!! Ann D please pm me at pdixon@nl.rogers.com I live in CBS, NEwfoundland….where are you?
Thanks for the great review. Can’t wait to see Adam in Denver.
I flew from Singapore to the US to attend three concerts – Nokia, Foxwoods and Borgata, AC. It was the best money I have spent in a long time. What a fantastic entertainer and what a privilege to see him perform in these smaller venues.
GREAT review . . . precise and to the point. Join the GlowNation in giving some LIVE love back to Adam during his concerts. Info at glows4adam.com. Thanks.
Finally, a reviewer who totally gets it!! I saw Adam twice and the experience you wrote about was exactly the same at my concerts….Adam is a one of a kind, once in a lifetime performer. He certainly spreads love.
He is so amazing isn’t he?? Hell yes!!
Adam Lambert Fsucking Rocks!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I wish I could express myself in writing like Bambi , but I can’t, so everything she said ,double that for me. The last line was esp. thoughtful.Love, Love the pictures in this article. W O W !
What a nice review. I loved his show in my town and wish I could go again. He should play in some bigger venues just so more people can see his showmanship. I appreciate your review and I will check out this website again. Spread the news of his talent so he can become a truly big star. I’m sick of the Justin Biebers and Taylor Swifts of the world.
There is simply no one like him in the music biz today. He has immense talent, charismatic stage presence, intelligence and humor. In pop music today, ruled by females, he is a dynamic, sexy MALE presence – thank god we have him. And, not least, he is an immensely joyful performer – full of fun – taking us along with him.
Yes he’s the “REAL DEAL”. I went to 2 shows and am going to 2 more. I have not recovered from them either.. Adam is beyond phenomenal live.. his voice will just wrap around your heart and carry you into another world..it is spellbounding. His voice is so powerful, controlled, and beyond perfect. I have never heard anything like this in my life. He is just “jaw dropping” throughout the show. He will take your breath away. Adam puts every ounce of energy into his show that he is just dripping sweat by the end..he gives the fans all his love, night after night. I have been to many many concerts in my life and ADAM LAMBERT puts everyone else to SHAME..He is the most talented performer in every way today.
The haters have all but disappeared, I knew that would happen. Talent always wins.
Thank you so much!! Wonderful review of Adam Lambert’s incredibly deep talents and genuine artistry! it is very true – his magnificent voice with its many layers and controlled power is just impossible to accurately describe. Adam is the ultimate performing artist and he makes my heart and body throb and sing. what a difference he makes in the world and i just wait (im)patiently for the rest of the world to catch up & discover this beautiful force who has awakened inspired passion and joy and love in the hearts, souls and minds of people all over the world.
Adam is simply amazing. Thanks for the great review….. Adam Lambert rocks my world!
I GET TO SEE ADAM ON FRIDAY. HAVE TO FLY FROM FLORIDA TO SEE HIM IN CLEVELAND. I HAVE NEVER CONSIDERED ANY OTHER ENTERTAINER TO BE WORTH TRAVELING SO FAR, AND EXPENSIVELY, TO SEE. ADAM IS UNIQUE, AND NOT ONLY A MEGA-TALENT, BUT A BEAUTIFUL MAN, INSIDE AND OUT ! I LOVE HIM !!
I hope this person won’t mind my sharing this comment with you. I was on another site that had this review and this was one of the comments. It made me tear up.
I am 22 years old and come from an ultraconservative family. I am on summer break from college and living with my mom and dad. I knew Adam Lambert was coming to Foxwoods Casino in CT this past June and myself and my dorm mate wanted to go so badly. We did manage to score tickets but I now had the task to tell my parents I was going to a casino to see Adam. Although I am not a minor I still live ‘under their roof’ ‘as my mother so fondly reminds me.
In May we were celebrating my grandmother’s 65th birthday when my dear, sweet, bratty younger sister baited the conversation by bringing up Adam’s name (she know I love him). Using it as a seque I casually mentioned that myself and my friend had tickets. *Crickets, crickets*, Ohhhhhh no!! After an endless (or seemingly) amount of time all chaos broke out and my mom stated I ‘had’ to take her and then my grandma said ‘not without me’. My dad finally chimed in that he had to go to make sure we all stayed out of trouble. They ended up going on Stubhub and paid about 3X the ticket price but my mom, dad, grandmother and little sister as well as my friend all went to Foxwoods to see Adam. My dad pretended to be our protector but he was fist pumping and waving glowsticks with the rest of us. Our little section was made up of two 22 yr olds, a 16 year old, a 43 year old, a 44 years old and a 65 year old. I think if my grandfather was still alive he would have been right there along side us. At first I wasn’t too happy about dragging along the whole family but we had a blast and it did open up the door for long discussions, things we never talked about on the hour long drive to the casino. Love you Adam Lambert.
Britte: At first I thought that the story was going to be a bit sad. But to my amazement it was such a amazing and positive story. I wish everyone could read it. It just goes to show that Adam appeals to all ages and demographicss from 16 to 65. I was at the Baltimore show and was surprises to see ages 11 to 65+ but mainly men and women mostly 20-30 something, several 40 something and older. Adam was more than I ever anticipated and until you see in LIVE you haven’t really lived. I mean that. He almost unreal. If I didn’t know better I’d think aliens from another planet dropped him off for our enjoyment and pleasure.
Thank you for the wonderful review. Adam’s message of love moves our souls. @Britte – thank you for sharing your story about you and your wonderful family experience. Uplifting and so hopeful that everyone can enjoy this man’s beautiful voice and peaceful, loving ways.
We all know that Adam lambert is phenomenal LIVE and his album FYE will eventually go platinum. After hearing the news that a second album is forthcoming next year, I thought it would be GREAT if the record producers can develop a 2-disc CD/DVD for the album – something similar to that of Journey’s “Revelation” album (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Revelation_(Journey_album) which had new songs on a CD while the DVD contained live video shots from concerts from the previous year. For Adam’s new album next year, wouldn’t that be great if it contained a DVD containing some of the great live concert moments of this year? There’s still a lot of concerts left here in the US and many more during the worldwide (i.e., Europe, Asia ) concert tour later this year. That would appeal to me more so as I’m sure to many of his other fans.
Britte,
That is a beautiful story. Adam Lambert himself would love it. We are so lucky to have him in our lives, bringing light and warmth and joy. Bless you and your family!
I totally agree with your review of an Adam Lambert show.
It’s NOT ONLY GOOD it’s LIFE CHANGING & that’s why it’s hard to be what you referred to as a “passive fan”. Once you have experienced Adam LIVE you begin to understand the word OBSESSED & start feeling like an addict, needing more & MORE of your drug, which is Adam himself. You begin to live each day just waiting for a new video or picture that helps to transport his positive & other worldly energy to you. HIS VOCALS are the closest thing to PERFECTION & you find yourself longing for more of it. Luckily an Adam addiction is one that you NEVER want to be cured of.
I also wanted to comment on the story Britte related about the older members of an ultra conservative family joining in with the younger, more open minded ones, & finding common love for the amazing Adam Lambert. It doesn’t surprise me to hear stories like that because in my own family Adam has found a way to touch a group across age groups, racial lines, sexual orientations & spiritual beliefs. It’s REALLY VERY SPECIAL to witness such diverse groups finding ground. Adam has that ability, not only through his extraordinary talent, but through his openness, his intellect, his humor, but mostly through his gentle, yet exciting, SPIRIT. I BELIEVE THAT ADAM IS TRULY A GIFT TO THIS WORLD. Thank you Universe…Thank you God! LET the LIGHT continue to SHINE ON THROUGH ADAM!
You need to replace Chris Richards at the NY Post because you definitely gave an HONEST, true review (unlike his negative self indulgent opinion.) Thank you for your review.
I was watching an Adam interview and the guy ask him what is the average age group that comes to his shows and he said between 40 and 65,,,and Cougars do love Adam….I am past that age but he is a beautiful singer and loved Elvis music and Adam gives the same feeling inside that Elvis did in his day…..I have seen Adam 3 times and have 3 more shows to go….Keep rocking Adam…….
Loved you Review. We on Team Adam know that he is goodness and light and on his way to being a mega star. His fans are passionate and protective, but he give us a great deal in return. The most marvelous voice to come along in years, his beautiful looks and soul, and someone we wish to elevate into the hemsosphere! Are we there yet?
Thank you for such a great review! I saw Adam on the Idols tour last year, and will be seeing him in KC on 7/15, and maybe in Springfield, too. *fingers crossed* Totally can’t wait. My husband is attending with me. I’ve loved Adam since Day One, and I’m so happy for all his success. He is our Super Nova. Keep voting for his new video IIHY (If I Had You) on VH1 and let’s see how long we can keep him at #1!! Click on the “Vote” button on the link below:

P. S. When voting on VH1, you can vote for just one video – you don’t have to fill up all 20 of the spots on the right side.
Hey I loved this review…..cudo’s to you and to Britte for her great story. I love the connection we all are making in honor of our sweet Adam. Doesn’t this feel great to be connected with so many who just want the best in life for him. We are getting so much in return Entertained!! I saw Adam Twice now and would again and again when he comes close to where I live. It made a great start to my summer I will never forget.
Thnak-you for a great review. I honestly get really upset with bias homophophic statements and finally a honest review for this mega-talented sex/god. i know everyone ‘s entiled to thier own opinion , but some and very few articles are blantly and factualy wrong and hateful. Adam is winning the hearts of millions and us glamberts knew from day one that there is no denying this worldwide icon to make it all the way to the top(universally) . Can’t wait to see him in August in Ma. But please come to Fla also! Love you Adam
I went and totally LOVED it. He performed absolutely amazingly. The songs were captivated and I screamed along to every single one. He is totally sexy and I about fainted right then and there when he moved his hips and hitched his leg up on the table. I LOVE ADAM and always will! 10000/10 stars!
To Kam … GREAT IDEA!!!! Please call Entertainment 19 and give them your idea… I would rob my piggy bank to buy just a stand alone DVD of a GNT concert but to combine the new cd with the Glam Nation Concert I would pre-order…
I was there for the Myrtle Beach concert and was absolutely blown away! Adam has such great talent and his energy is contagious!!! I will always love Adam for the person he is and all he’s brought out in people. Such a great person and hopefully he conitues on to be the person he is.
Much love & success! Hope to see you in Raleigh, NC too =)
Great review. Great comments. Was at first show in Wilkes-Barre, Pa., heading to second show at Upper Darby, Pa. Wish I could attend all. Never bored at ADAM shows. This man and his band and dancers, even NEIL, are all about LOVE. Can’t go wrong with that. He is loyal to his family, friends, and fans. We love you ADAM, and will always have your back.
