Steph Geber is obsessed with three-part harmony, loves sarcasm, Mario Kart, and knows how to write and perform a killer pop song. On Songs About You, her first full-length album, this Shaker Heights, Ohio native (now living in NYC), shows her dynamic vocal range as a singer/songwriter in a strong pop album.
Before moving to New York City, she attended Indiana University, where she was a four year member of the Singing Hoosiers, and a three year member of the all-female a cappella group, Ladies First. LF recorded and produced two CDs, one of which was awarded a Contemporary A Cappella Recording Award for Best Female Collegiate Album in 2001. She has performed at the White House twice, and has appeared on numerous stages throughout the country since age five.
With a musical theater background and thirteen years of vocal training, she has an extensive musical repertoire. It’s no wonder with this kind of musical pedigree that Cleveland Pride had to have her as one of the featured performers this year.
Geber’s musical influences such as Fiona Apple, Sarah Mclachlan, KT Tunstall and Rachael Yamagata are evident in her delivery and honest pop music and lyrics. “Fine” is dealing with dealing, “Notes on You” would be a fun pop remix and has a good movie soundtrack appeal. “Turn Off The World” is trying to understand why a relationship won’t work anymore and trying to find a compromise, while “Sad Eyes” could easily be a pop-country hit.
“World Is Spinning” has an upbeat world pop sound yet drawn out jazz styling approach that I love and would make a fun music video concept. “Too Blind” is the funk/soul release off the album and I think it’d be fun if Geber would experiment with this type of sound more. “Blanket of You” is another perfect pop love song from Geber that connects with the listener.
A strong pop release focused on connection from a solid performer that is worth your time to check out.

I, too, find this album to be very enjoyable.
The songwriting demonstrates a wide range in Steph’s musical interests.
Her vocals are great and her strong writing skills are showcased very well.
I’ll be listening to this many more times.
I’m looking forward to future projects.
This album is amazing. It’s the perfect piano driven indie pop album. The harmonies alone make it worth listening to. Steph’s voice is rich and beautiful, and the songs are full of heart. I can’t wait for more!
