Stacy Clark is one enjoyable and talented indy artist, proudly from Buffalo, New York, and still trying to make it out to Alaska. Stacy got our attention with “Say What You Want,” the ultimate “I am not affected by what you do anymore” song anymore, that aired on The Hills. But she’s kept our attention because she’s a talented singer/songwriter and is also the spokesperson for Music Save Lives.

Sometimes Stacy sounds like Imogen Heap, especially on “Closer,” a call for action to get closer. Stacy’s music is folk meets electronica, which she’s dubbed “folka”. “Matter of Time” is extremely catchy and pop-radio friendly, and “Peppermint Patties” is my favorite song written, with lyrics: “peppermint patties / are making me sick / i know better / i keep craving them.”

What I love about Stacy’s work is her honesty of her songwriting, such as “Empty Bottles” about being with someone with a addiction: “i prefer not to use a chaser. / i like the burn to serve as an eraser.” “Recluse” also addresses addiction and addictive relationships.

It’s impossible to listen to Stacy’s music and not appreciate her dedication to her craft and not become a fan.
