Scott Alan definitely has talent. After receiving what i wanna be for review, I spent some time exploring his past releases. I have to admit to feeling somewhat ashamed at not finding his works before – it’s definitely up my alley. So after I did my research on his prior releases, I slipped the new CD in and was simply delighted.
His work should elicit different emotions in each person who listens, the words and imagery created in each song have that power. In this CD, you can find yourself taken away by familiar sounds that tickle the back of your mind trying to remember what they are. There are touches of Musical theater throughout, from the harmony & counterpoint of Cole Porter to the lyricism of Lerner and Loewe. There are even touches of several Disney animated features ala the Little Mermaid.
Most of all however, there is an honest quality that flows in the music. Anyone that can sit back and after listening to the lyrics feel no attachment honestly would need to be examined for a heart.
Definitely head out and grab this CD from Amazon. You won’t be disappointed.
