Alternative-electronica has a leader in Sacha Sacket and the LadyKillers.  His latest album, Sacha Sacket and the LadyKillers – Live at the Zone, is a pretty unique recording – he recorded it at a Los Angeles sex club with his all-girl band.  Now, it’s not what you think, this is not a Erotica type album. This album is extremely personal, introspective and gives a reflection of vulnerability that is uncanny in front of a live audience with a strong amount of sexual tension in the air in a venue that had few to zero boundaries or inhibitions.

Each time I hear Sacha’s voice, I hear different influences or similarities between him and Bjork, Coldplay, Tori Amos, Radiohead, Smashing Pumpkins, Rufus Wainwright and at times, some Bono.  What he has that all these artists have is songwriting talent as well as a undeniable intensity and the ability to have such power in their voice that you can’t help but give them your attention.  It’s well worth your time and your money – “Desire” is my favorite pick, with the lyrics and the great electric guitar/piano accompaniment: “She said, “It’s madness to go on with this /  Shell out my soul to hear what’s wrong with it / Before this eternal self-consciousness / I had a point of view, but now it’s shit.”"

“Brandon Boyd,” about his ex-classmate (yes, the Brandon Boyd) was a great way to kick off the album, while “Judy (For Shame)” could be played on country radio, and “Maybe You Can Save Me (From You” is movie soundtrack ready.  “I Just Can’t” is incredible, any artist who has ever been in a relationship with a non-artist who couldn’t understand, can relate to this song.

There is more to this album then it’s surroundings, all profits from his “Sweet Release Show” are earmarked for ANSA‘s “It Takes A Village” program that specifically targets children in South Africa affected and orphaned by HIV/AIDS.  A portion of profits from every CD sold will also benefit the organization and, with a bit of tongue and cheek, is packaged with it’s very own Sacha Sacket condom.

Highly recommend this album for anyone who likes a good alternative and experimental album with lyrics that matter, and looking forward to hearing more this talented indy artist.
