“It’s time for hope and change,” Robin Thicke says.  “It’s in the air.  and I’m speaking on the times around me.”  Thicke, a award-winning multiplatinum superstar gives a glowing tribute to the ’70s soul and pop records that have inspired his career.

Thicke, who wanted this album to have a celebratory feel to it, delivers with enjoyable songs such as R&B sweetness “You’re My Baby”, the fun and relaxing “Side Step” and even more music that marries the 70s styling with today’s R&B and hip hop sounds.  The first single, “Magic,” draws together all of Thicke’s influences together into disco-infused dance pop.

I would love to hear a acoustic version of “Dreamworld,” as much as I could see this being a successful cover for Jamie Cullum.  There is great energy with the horns arrangement on “Hard on My Love”, while there is such tenderness in the Paris-inspired “The Sweetest Love.”  The final song, “Tie My Hands,” featuring Lil Wayne with the best of R&B, hip hop and soul and ties the record together.  The more I listen to the album, the more I enjoy it – a great record with just the right mix of the best of the past and the current hit sounds of today.
