Who could forget LaKisha Jones?  One of the top four finalists of the sixth season of American Idol, and one of the most gifted singers to come from that season, has released her first solo album, So Glad I’m Me.

Jones has the gift of being able to deliver a heart-stopping ballad, a dance remix party jam or a spiritual uplifting song.  Her style is comfortable in the R&B and soul genre, and her first single, “Let’s Go Celebrate” encouraging to take time to acknowledge getting through the storm and celebrating the victory.  The remixes are smoking!

“Grateful” is a unapologetic thank you for all the blessings she has been given in her life.  “So Glad I’m Me” is about self-acceptance, but I think one of the biggest ‘not taking any sh*t and I’m done with you’ songs that should be released as a single from Jones is “Nothing.”

“Beautiful Girl” is in honor of Jones’ daughter, who kept her going and pushing in her musical career and in life. “Same Song,” penned by Diane Warren, focuses on reconnecting the dots on a failed relationship, while Jones also tackles Whitney Houston’s “You Give Good Love” and a shout-out to her spiritual roots on the inspirational “Just As I Am.”

LaKisha also embraces her gay audience, check out her interview w/ 247Gay.com’s Patrick Harris and Duane Wells.  Follow her on Twitter and check out her MySpace.
