Pull out your calendar now, and on March 16th’s to-do list write ‘buy Gin’s new album’ right now.  You’re going to want this new album…it’s that good.  Holy Smoke, is going to be turning heads in the music industry for her authentic pop-soul sound that is much needed on the pop radio landscape today.  Gin Wigmore (MySpace, Facebook, Twitter), from New Zealand, has all the goods….the gritty yet vulnerably believable voice, the look (quite gorgeous)  and great lyrics.  She’s going to be compared to Duffy, but quite frankly, that’s not bad company to be in.

“Oh My” kicks off the album, a gritty soul/pop/blues/dirty rock and roll song that is going to be a sure-hit for Gin.  This song is  for anyone who has been ‘beaten in the game of love’ for the sake of a short stint with a not-so-great payoff.   “Hey Ho” is a must hear for obvious reasons.  “New Revolution” shows songwriting maturity beyond her years…she’s only 23 with her gritty, hot damn rock and roll sound.

“Don’t Stop” is catchy, but one of the greatest gems is “Too Late For Lovers,” the second single from this incredible release.  “Too Late For Lovers” is solid proof that Gin is one of the most bankable artists in 2010.  “Mr. Freakshow” and “One Last Look” are so much fun, and proves she can rock it out as much as she can reel you in to her tender side. “Golden Ship” is incredible, the process of letting go without feeling like you left a song housed in wet tissues.  Gin is one artist that I fully expect to step up and claim her bankability this year. Get this album….with her soul soaring and shining in her music, while the rest of the world is going to have to catch up with her.
