If you took four amazingly talented, strong, and confident women; two from New York City(Binki and Lesley) and two from Canada (Naomi and Sarah) then you’d have the up and coming R& B group, Electrik Red (MySpace, Facebook, Twitter). These four women are set to put a new spin on girl power with their futuristic sound in the Hip Hop industry. Having paid their way in the industry by performing as backup dancers for hugely successful artists such as Usher, Mariah Carey, and Ciara, these ladies know what it means to work hard for something. In fact, they refused to use their connections in the industry to get noticed. They put together their demo back in 2005 and it wasn’t until this year that they were finally satisfied with it.
Now, accepting the help of Grammy Award-winning writing/production team The Dream and Tricky Stewart (Rihanna’s “Umbrella”), Electrik Red combines their own unique style and creativity to produce this extremely seductive album.

This album screams sexual tension from the moment the first track, “Muah” plays all the way through the final song, which is a remix of the album’s second song, “So Good,” featuring the very successful Lil’ Wayne. “Drink In My Cup” serves as their first single and it’s a hot club track to put anyone in the chill zone without putting them to sleep. “Bed Rest” has a very tight beat with a concentration on romance and love, as opposed to most of the songs on the album, which seem to be focused on the pure act of love. They slow it down in “9 to 5” to prove that they’re not all about dancing fast but also know how to slow dance.

This album is perfect for all you club goers out there. However, those of you looking for a collection of songs with profound lyrics, this CD is not for you. It’s obvious that Electrik Red simply wants to put you in the mood…to dance…or something like it.
