British-Pop sensation Little BootsIlluminations EP, exclusive in the U.S. will be released on Elektra Records on June 9th.  This five-track EP features rare and exclusive tracks alongside the new single, “New In Town,” and the track that started it all, “Stuck On Repeat.”  This teaser and taste is in preps for the full-length debut, Hands, due for release later on in the year.

Little Boots, known to her friends and family as Victoria Hesketh, will be touring the US and has been praised as one of the most talked-about UK pop stars this year.  If there is any doubt, she came in at #1 on BBC’s most influential “Sound of 2009″ survey – without a proper single charting her to this honor.

“New In Town” channels the energy and pop disco sound of Lady GaGa meets Kylie Minogue, ironically the director of the  music video, Jake Nava, has directed Kylie, Beyonce and Britney videos.  This is the shining star of the EP and could be one of the summer themes of radio if given airplay on the Top 40 stations.

I’m not crazy about “Stuck on Repeat,” to me it’s nothing that Britney and Madonna haven’t done.  However, “Not Now”, the exclusive US release, has the pop flavor and disco remix potential to be popular on the dance floors.  “Magical” couldn’t be more retro disco, reminding me of Kylie yet again with some Olivia Newton John-styling kaleidoscoping in the mix.  “Love Kills” concludes the EP, a Freddie Mercury cover, is disco twilight, and I wouldn’t have recognized it as a Freddy cover because it sounds so incredibly different.

If you’re looking to check out a dance-pop release, give this a try – fans who are predisposed Kylie fans will love it. The one definite fun song with the most mainstream potential during the Lady GaGa Movement is “New In Town.”
