Out at the Wedding
by Angela Brooks
Clichés seem to be part of the GLBT movie scene. Out at the Wedding is no exception. Alex, a straight woman, tells her fiancé that her family is dead. She then proceeds to run off to her little sister’s wedding with her gay BFF. At the wedding rumors spread that Alex is gay. She goes back to New York and her family is insistent on meeting her “girlfriend”. Alex hires a lesbian. Jeannie, her little sister, shows up unexpectedly and the web of lies grows.
Mike Farrell from MASH and Mink Stole from Hairspray are in the movie. It was directed by Lee Friedlander, Director of LOGO’s “Exes and Ohs” and the feature film, Girl Play.
