Janeane Garofalo’s “If You Will” sold-out comedy performance filmed live in Seattle, has been anticipated by long-term fans (like us) of Janeane’s work. Outspoken, intelligent, and rapid fire comedy at it’s finest, Janeane goes through a wide range of topics from pop culture (Lady Gaga, CSI, infomercials, as well as an in-depth anatomy monologue on Natalie Portman with a touch of Charlize Theron for good measure) to Homeland Security’s international flight procedures to texting to her lack of a web presence, the ‘Teabaggers’, and all along the way, poking fun at herself, consistently in a little over an hour.
From a technical perspective, the image (Anamorphic Widescreen) and sound quality are top notch. I expected more extra skits, but we do get two: Janeane on ‘pets’ where she is gifted by audience fans after a show, and a ‘political showdown’ of sorts, with “Representative Richard Martin (R),” ambushing Garofalo outside the Moore Theatre in Seattle with his Flip camera, and the ambush results in a re-make of the ”Majority Report” radio show in her hotel room.
We love it, for the constant stream of Janeane Garofalo insights, and think you will too.
