Possibly the most anticipated album in 2008 coming out is Duffy’s Rockferry. I started catching the buzz thanks to my friend Larry Flick’s praise on OutQ In The Morning on Sirius OutQ, and then I was able to get my hands on it as well and now I know why this is one hot release! The five songs are top quality and I have been listening to this one SAMPLER all day long. There’s something about this artist from Nefyn, Wales that should have the same buzz Amy Winehouse got when she came on the scene, except Duffy, has a hell of a lot more talent.

Duffy’s making and mending with classic hooks and massaging soul with some upgraded pop influence with “Mercy” which kicked off this sampler with undeniable star power and quality. “Rockferry” displays the power of Duffy’s voice and range, and really provides a landmark with “Rockferry” to build even more on the curiousity that if this album sampler is as good as it is, a full album is going to rock the world.

“Warwick Avenue” sounds like a classic about a bad relationship that is about to be over, but it’s all Duffy and she makes music that is destined to be played for years to come. “Serious” is more of a challenge to becoming more than a charm or a accessory in love, and finally, the final taste is “Distant Dreamer.” “Distant Dreamer” could be Duffy’s “If I Can Dream” personalized-type single, it could be that much of a powerful stamp of endorsement on her career. The one thing is very clear, Duffy doesn’t need to dream, she’s about to be the next big star of 2008.

The full album, Rockferry, is being released on Mercury Records on May 13, 2008 and we absolutely can’t wait to hear the entire classic in the making. This is the one album that will get people talking and show the music industry how powerful word of mouth still is.
